Stacy Sims' AS WHITE AS O is the story of Jack Hawley (played by longtime Road member Vince Tula), who hasn't been home in awhile. When the house he and his outsider artist father built in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky gets moved to a museum in New York by a wily curator, Jack decides its time to revisit the past. Arriving in New York, he is overwhelmed by memories of his father’s life and death, a surprise about his mother, and a girl he never stopped loving. To top it off, Jack has synesthesia, a condition involving an involuntary cross-wiring of the senses. Jack tastes his feelings, smells what he touches, and sees letters in color. While young art star Ed Jack's synesthesia is the greatest possible way to experience the world, Jack isn't so sure. As the past becomes present, Jack must take on life again, no matter what color it is or how disturbing it tastes or smells.
