Jenny Dixon - An Irish Actress in LA

An Irish born actress. Graduated from university in Dublin with a first class honours science degree in zoology and genetics and followed it up with a post graduate diploma. Worked as a high school teacher of science and mathematics while at the same time doing some modelling work too.

 



Upon taking a short intensive acting course I pretty promptly booked a ticket to LA to experience it there too for the three month teaching vacation period. I Loved it. Acting had taken hold, I was mesmerised!

 



Currently on a career break now from teaching, I have been fortunate enough to have been able to pursue life in the entertainment field more full time. Featured in music videos, short films screened at Cannes, feature length films yet to be released and having done theatre work in Hollywood, modelling on national tv shows in Ireland and the US, as well as print and runway work it’s been a rollercoaster. Between modelling and acting I am loving it here in LA now, living in West Hollywood.

 





I admire those who live in the moment, those who are positive and good and those who continue to grow and be kind, whether they be celebrity or not. People who inspired me were acting coaches, my mom, my students and a few good friends who made me ‘just go for it’!

 





In term of what I hope to achieve, it’s just everyday to continue to grow, to learn, to work with and meet great people and to enjoy it all as much I can. Of course there’s the echelon of greats, of legends, directors, to writers, to actors that it’d be a privilege to get to work with, oh yes, there’s a hitlist, but right now, I’m enjoying basing in a new city, Los Angeles and experiencing life as a  working actress and model amidst the heart of it all.
