There comes a time when we as people, need to see beyond ourselves and extend a hand to help others. A important choice that needs to be made and the choice TV personality Mary Amons (The Real Housewives of DC, mother of five and TV legend Author Godfrey's granddaughter~more on that later!) made was to start a charity. Calling it "Labels for Love", and around it Mary has developed a heartfelt passion for making a difference in the lives of women and children in need. By staging and hosting events with a fashion, design and art focus. for other important organized charities!

Mary Amons
This year, Mary has been doing nationwide events with Christofle’s for Labels for Love- her signature Cross Pendant (and her TV fans favorite signature piece) is being sold as a fundraiser for her charity. A Christofle creation from 2006, this piece is reproduced exclusively for Mary Amons and her charity – Labels for Love, a 501(c)(3) organization bringing financial support and awareness to women’s and children’s causes. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Labels for Love. See more on

So back to Wednesday- I am heading down for NYC to our nations great capitol to support this important event!
Come join Mary Amons, Fran Drescher and myself on Wednesday May 4Th from 6:30pm-10:00pm at "The Historic Lumber Shed" on the SE waterfront. For the Modus Union 2011 event. Featuring a "hot" runway show and 3-D film presentation with designer Marc Bouwer and hair by celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson. I plan on spending a few hours with those two amazing talents!!
More than fifteen Members of the House of Congress and their spouses will be in attendance to "stand up and voice their support" for this timely issue of fighting cancer that is a crucial issue with the budget and health care crisis that presently is being debated in our nation.
Its all called "Modus Union" -a term created to "brand' an evening of fashion and art with a meaning of unifying fashion, art and philanthropy with positive intent, featuring a fashion show by a top designer and artwork by premier DC local artists.
Mary will pay a special tribute to hero and fighter, the late Elizabeth Edwards as a highlight of the evening's program. Along with introducing Fran Drescher who is a 10 year uterine cancer survivor! I remember when Fran shared her emotional story on Oprah! Sharing that she went 2 years and 8 doctors undiagnosed with Uterine Cancer. Fortunately at the time of diagnosis, she was Stage 2 and the cancer was contained and she is now considered cured and about to launch a new TV show!. She wrote a book about her experiences and started a non-profit organization, Cancer Schmancer to raise funds to spread awareness of early detection and prevention of female cancers mobile mammography screening units, the very hip traveling "Fran Vans." Mary Amons, cast member of "The Real Housewives of DC" had the privilege of meeting Fran Drescher in the Spring of 2010 and was personally inspired by her passion in Fran's mission of spreading the word of early detection and prevention of female cancers. This inspiring meeting with Fran sparked a similar passion and mission to engage and influence her daughters, sisters, mother, friends and her television viewing audience to join in this critical mission in ensuring a healthy future for women of generations to come. This is an event all must attend. www.cancerschmancer.org
