
The 2011 Miss Malibu crown
Completing their personal interviews in private with an esteemed panel of judges that included GRAMMY®-nominated and multiplatinum-selling recording artist Taylor Dayne, Stephanie Pratt ( The Hills), Necar Zadegan ( 24, Outlaw), Shar Jackson ( Celebrity Fit Club), Eric Viskovicz (Celebrity Personal Trainer), Marnie Saitta (Head Casting Director― Days of Our Lives), Lee Watkinson (Professional Poker Player), Jefferson Wagner (Mayor of Malibu) and Ashley Jones ( True Blood, The Bold and the Beautiful), the entourage was moved outside for the swimsuit and evening gown categories. Each category held one-third weight in the overall scoring to determine the Top 10.

The captivating scenery was enjoyed by all as the audience and judges listened to live performances by Caroline D’Amore and hip hop newcomer Ya Boy. This year’s event was hosted by Emmy-winning anchor KTLA’S Morning News reporter Wendy Burch and Emmy-winning actress, author and talent extraordinaire Jackie Guerra; these ladies kept things lively.

The judges quickly narrowed down the group to the Top 5, which included Shannon Lewis (4th Runner-up), Lindsay Becker (3rd Runner-up), Kaitlyn Holstein (2nd Runner-up) and Brittany McGowan (1st Runner-up), with twenty-six year old Erin White being crowned Miss Malibu 2011. Erin, a graduate from the University of North Carolina, has a well planned future which includes aspiring to be an Oscar-winning actor. Winning the title was only part of her achievement for the evening, Erin White was also presented with a special award for Outstanding Community Service. Noted LA philanthropists Christine and Dr. Gabriel Chiu personally selected and presented this award.

Dazzling evening wear
Miss Congeniality, an acknowledgment decided upon by the contestants themselves, was awarded to Greta Pechter. Miss Photogenic is bestowed annually upon the contestant who exemplifies confidence, beauty and personality as viewed through the lens of a camera; this year’s recipient was Brittany McGowan.
