The entry at night
Stay in the Hilton Paris Hotel and you will enjoy the comforts guaranteed by the brand: spacious, modern rooms and professional service provided with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of efficiency in an orderly, tranquil environment. The qualities that make Hilton Hotels a favorite among business travelers should suggest to those vacationing in Paris that such an oasis is just what they need. After all, being a tourist is often harder work than being on the job.

Terrace cafe dining at the Hilton Paris
The Hilton Paris is located a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower a few blocks from the Seine, both of which offer you pleasant opportunities to partake of the Parisian passion for beautiful walks. Entering the Hilton Paris itself, your stress disappears.
Outside and in, reception to restaurant to the invidual rooms, it is as soothing as if you walked into a Mondrian painting with its clean lines and open spaces.

The lobby is wide and bright, with plenty of light coming through the large glass windows. In fact, there are windows everywhere, bringing a bright airiness not only to the public spaces but to the rooms themselves. This is fitting for a vacation in what is called the "City of Light."

The service is professional and pleasant. As an example of their efficiency, I had unplugged a lamp to plug in my laptop power near the bed. I thought nothing of it until the electrician came to fix the light the next day. Apparently the chambermaid had noticed and reported the lamp without seeing the plug had been removed. He had been dispatched, on a Sunday no less, to fix the problem.

The room itself meets the standards one would expect of an American hotel of the same class. A wall of windows lets in the light and the view. There is a glass door which lets out onto a balcony. The balcony has a view of the Eiffel Tower practically next door. There are large mirrors everywhere, adding to the feeling of light and space. The ceilings are high. The sense line is carried through in the wallpaper and even the lampshades.

In an effort to be energy concious, the Hilton Paris changes the sheets every three days. However, if you want them changed every day, all you have to do is leave the green card from the nightstand on your pillow, and your sheets will be changed every time.

Be aware that a hotel advertising wi-fi or high-speed internet service in Europe, even a quality hotel such as the Hilton Paris may very well charge extra should you wish to use it. At 27 euros a day from the room, and at over 5 euros per 15-minutes in the business center, it can surprise an American visitor who is accustomed to free wi-fi even at KOA campgrounds. In addition, the hotel computers do not have fire-wire ports, so that some portable hard drives and cameras will not be able to link up to the system. USB ports are available, but even if your drive can use them, they are much slower than firewire in data transfer and when you pay by the minute, that can be aggravating.

If you want someplace to stay in Paris where you can expect to return each day to the comforts and conveniences that are emblematic of the Hilton name, then the Hilton Paris is an excellent choice.
