Matters On Design (MOD) is a new program which aims to bring to the forefront the two elements essential in all great design: style and technology. This year, the program partnered with
Kia Motors America and
Hachette Filipacci Media to present a night of fashion and fun with bebe at
The Grove in Los Angeles. It is MOD’s mission to demonstrate that the love of great design aesthetics doesn’t limit itself to just fashion, but it bleeds onto all aspects of our life. The cars we drive, the art that we find pleasing to the eye, the music that we find pleasing to the ear, and the sophisticated technology that we gravitate toward; these are poignant objectives of our sense of style.

The Grove became the center stage for
bebe’s Spring 2010 Collection which highlighted the successfully launched
Kardashian Capsule Collection. 50 models dawning 50 looks that ranged from pastels and prints, to rocking pin-up girl, made their way down the a strip of red carpet lined with hundreds of eager fashion enthusiasts. Although many haute fashion connoisseurs may dismiss bebe as your typical mall chain fashion and mock its designs for having a lack of originality, it is stores such as bebe and its fashions that helps make the sheer love of fashion accessible to us all. Average women, and men for that matter, might not be able to afford a $2,000 outfit from Bergdorf’s, but they could very well afford a $200 one from bebe. Although some consumers may feel that rhinestone lettering intricately placed across the derriere may be a little too crass, and who can blame them, bebe has managed to take a taste of the most highly praised runway fashions and turn them into something rather chic and fashion forward.

Geometric patterns

Striped minis and loose tops
Spring is synonymous with blooming flowers and this has been translated to designer apparel. Bebe took note of this trend and highlighted rouched mini dresses and hip-hugging skirts with delicate pastel blooms. From delicate to bold, models strutted in striped minis, leather embellished dresses with sharp shoulder pads, and legs highlighted with footless tights in bright colors of hot pink, orange, red, green and blue. Geometric prints also showed up on shoulder baring tees and will be a must have for the season.

Bebe founder and COO,
Manny Mashouf has spearheaded the store chain to be one of the premiere shopping destinations in any city. Reasonable prices by designer comparison and clothes that are about confident and sexy fun without pretentious attitude seems to be the theme…a theme that is working since Mashouf founded the retail line in 1976. Bebe stores, inc. currently operates 312 stores, of which 215 are bebe stores, 32 are 2b bebe stores, 64 are bebeSPORT stores (this includes bebe/bebeSPORT 2-in-1 stores) and 1 is a bebe accessories store.
